[FEB 24th] Weekly Obsessions

Dainty

1. Kpop Star
Wow. This season Kpop Star Audition definitely stepped it up. The potential talent is unbelievable. One of the two favorite performances that i'm totally obsessed with are the Chitty Chitty Bang Bang with Song Ha Ye, So Yeon and Mirim. They KILLED IT!

They looked and sounded like a real girl group...and then BoA went and messed them up by adding two unnecessary girls and let them keep a stupid name like YouU. The second performance is Like this by Raccon Boys. Wow. The whole performance was genius down to the ending with the JYP whisper. Those boys are like gold. I have no words to describe their awesomeness. Only thing I can say is; Debut. NOW! Here is where I stand currently in the competition; Raccon Boys, Icheona, Akdong, YouU, Brian Shin, Sujin, and so on...Who cares about the rest. Honestly, why the hell is Bang Yedan still in the competition.

    Sistar19 Comeback Review

After Ma Boy, I was a really huge fan and advocate for Sistar19. That was a very awesome song and video.  Now they are back again. They decided to turn the sexy dial up to the max, slow down the tempo a little bit  and made their comeback with 'Gone Not Around Any Longer'.

    {REVIEW} SNSD - I Got A Boy

Girls Generation recently came out with an album and overall, it wasn't that bad. I'm not really the biggest Girls Generation fan; I actually think they are quite over rated. But still, I can't deny good music. So I wanted to check them out and see what all the hype was about and I wasn't as disappointed as I thought I was going to be.

    1. I Got A Boy

Okay. I hate to admit, but this song is actually kinda catchy. Well, the first 1:30 minutes is, and then Tiffany stops us and tries to put it down another way....which fails. I hate the chorus. Yes, its catchy, but I hate it.

    THE BEST OF 2012

So I was honestly avoiding this list as you can see we're already into the new year but i figured eh why not. The reason i avoided it was because 2012 was such a good year for Kpop that i ended up with way more songs than i intended and my ranking for the songs kept changing with each song i remembered to add. But one thing that never changed was my number one song, my top 5 albums and my favorite artist.

    Kpop on Glee

So as many Kpop fans know, Gangnam Style was butchered, i mean performed on Glee. Ok they did fine and props to even singing the korean verse, though Jenna Ushkowitz is Korean American. In this is where i really hear the open condom style everyones been joking about.

    JYJ Drama Finally Over

After 3 whole years, SM have stopped being bitches to JYJ and they've both reached a mutual  agreement to stop the lawsuits. Thank goodness. The future possibility of a DBSK reunion may still be bleak but hopefully JYJ can now perform in Korea without the BS they've had to endure from being replaced at events with SM artists to getting cut out of broadcasts.
This whole situation showed alot of people one of the major downsides of the kpop music industry. Ridiculous contracts drawn up by greedy, controlling executives. These guys had a golden group in their hands and they took extreme advantage of them and hopefully they pay the price for all that the 5 guys of DBSK and who knows how many other SM artists have been through. Though i do wonder how Yunho and Changmin are getting treated these days. Granted after the debacle began some singers contracts in the industry were reduced to the normal 5 years.
I understand its a business and its their job to be entertainers the same way normal folk go to work 5/6 days a week( to still come back home to be broke after paying bills) full time classes or managing children and get less than 5 hours of rest. But these guys weren't even getting paid for what they worked so hard for and they got schemed even more than just a way lighter than usual paycheck and they had to still deliver to waiting fans after all the BS.

For the whole industry, there comes a point where as a kpop fan you look at kpop singers (hate the term idol) falling asleep on shows and/or passing out, getting assaulted by sasaengs etc and you realize instead of begging for more how about we appreciate the stuff they give us, which is alot. I'm always worried to hear how someone like Lee Joon is doing 2 or 3 different ongoing variety shows is filming 2 drama's and yes still has to be active for most of the projects MBLAQ has to do including end of the year awards rehearsals, variety, interviews and an upcoming album. Or how BAP have been promoting constantly since they debuted even clearly seeing them in the same clothes as they go from one show to another then as a "vacation" they only get a week. These singers need to breathe and just experience life completely freely for atleast a  couple months so that they can come back inspired and energized. A human body can only handle so much stress no matter what kind of job its being put through.

I was so glad to hear that Sunye of Wondergirls is getting married in January and JYPE is giving her time to be a married woman and will have the rest of the girls do other stuff like solo albums or acting. What the future holds for her in the industry is to be determined (hopefully she does get a chance to comeback if she wants) but atleast she's getting time to  live her life.
This is the main thing i keep wishing for the singers who are songwriters like JYJ, GD, Bang Yongguk etc they need to take a break, see the world and other people outside their kpop circle to get inspiration to make the great songs we love to hear or we'll just end up with crazy songs such as Crayon and Crash. But seriously i wish the best for JYJ, TVXQ and Sunye and all kpop singers whether i like them or not. Because their life may look glamorous but they work just as hard or even harder than our unglamorous selves and as we look to them as our escape from life shouldn't they have a great escape from their hectic life.

    {REVIEW} Lee Hi 'Scarecrow'

After blessing us with the sassy, jazzy single "1.2.3.4"  Lee Hayi, unnecessarily dubbed Lee Hi, follows up with "Scarecrow" an R&B ballad written by JYP and originally meant as Bom's solo debut.

{REVIEW} B.A.P Stop It single album

Ah the never ending comeback rookies that are B.A.P. Best rookies of the year in my opinion. I admire their tenacity but sadly the tenacity in their songs reduced majorly. Maybe its a good thing so as to not be repetitive. This album, Stop It, has three songs that all go retro and that gives nostalgia to folks like me who grew up with late 80's and 90s music. Its the only album where the concept was used in all songs.

    Stop It (3rd Single Album)

    1. Yes Sir
    2. Stop It
    3. Happy Birthday

D-Unit Gets a Gangsta Makeover & Asks Us To Luv Them

Rookie group D-Unit recently made their comeback with Luv Me. I have to say it was a pretty awesome comeback. Their debut song was good, but not really memorable. This song....is dope. Its a nice mixture of pop and a little hip hop with a funky instrumental. The video was okay. I actually liked the gangsta concept, they looked so cute. lol.
The plot however made not sense whatsoever. Apparently

Dal Shabet release Have, Dont Have...FAIL

T-ara Dal shabet is back with their Mini album, Have, Don't Have. The video was released recently and has been doing pretty well on music charts. How? This song is really bad. In order to understand the story line of this video I had to reluctantly watch it more that twice. You know, usually if you watch a song more than once the song kind of grows on you...nope. If anything the more i replayed it, the worse it got. The song sounds like it failed to make it on T-ara's album and

    Rookie Review: EXID

EXID was originally a six member groups formed by, Dami, Yuzi, LE, Hani, Haeryung and Junghwa. They made their debut in February 16th with the single HOLLA and the title song, "Whoz that girl."
First time I heard the song, I hated it. It just didn't pull me in. At all. The first thing that caught my eye (me being a former dedicated Blackjack) was that they used the creepy looking guy from 2NE1's "It Hurts" video. The second thing I noticed was that the rapper looked like she tried her best (but failed) to put together a CL

Ah Yeon, Ji Min, Lee Hi; Who Did It Better?

I, like so many other K-Pop fans was hooked by KPOP STAR. That show is just brilliant. Throughout the season I knew it was going to come down to these three. As soon as Baek Ah Yeon sang "Haru Haru," she got me. Her rendition was so emotional and sweet. It took me a while to get on the Park Ji Min train, but she grew on me over time. Lee Ha Yi, I've loved her ever since "Bust your windows." I think out of all the signings I was most excited when YG signed Lee Hayi and Lee Seung Hoon.

Baek Ah Yeon was the first to make her debut on September 10th, with a Debut album Im Baek. The debut song "Sad Song" was an expected hit from the talented singer. It reached number 11 on Billboard and 2 on Gaon. She stunned us all with her beautiful transformation. The concept of the video was awesome, and I love all the dramatics in the video. The song was a good song, but to me it wasn't one I would put on my Ipod. Or if i did put it I would be hitting skip occasionally. Its just not my type of song. I have to say though

    {REVIEW} Independent Woman Pt. 3

    INDEPENDENT WOMEN  Pt. III
             TRACK LIST
    01 I Don't Need A Man
    02 Ma Style
    03 If I Were a Boy
    04 Madness

    05 Time's Up

Miss A made their comeback about a month ago with the release of  "I Don't Need A Man," and their single, a tribute to Destiny's Child, Independent Women Pt.3. I have to say JYP hit the money with this concept. Its one that(to my knowledge) hasn't even been touched in K-pop.

    1. I Don't Need A Man
Their video for I Don't Need A Man was sooo AWESOME! I love it. This was such a great comeback song to wrap the year up. Its a nice fun song, that's so catchy and sends out a great message. The video was really creative with all its hidden meanings and i'm soo happy Min finally got a rap; she has so much swag. Jia KILLED both the rap and the dance, and Fei was just so so gorgeous. Suzy..um.....she was alright. She had moments when she wasn't completely forgotten:-) I kid. I kid. Though i'm not a fan of her, I have to say that her mustache scene was too cute. I love the fact that they went for a more simple dance this time. Overall they all looked gorgeous in the video, the concept was awesome, the song rocked my socks and Fei is still the fairest of them all...here is the video if you have been living in a cave. haven't checked it out.

    2. Ma Style
This song wasn't a bad song, but it didn't make me go "OMG I have to get this."  It was a nice typical K-pop song. There was nothing that really stood out about the song other than Jia. She's
